I recently went to Grand Haven, Michigan for my step-grandfather’s memorial service. My whole family flew out from California. It was only a 5 hour drive for me so it wasn’t bad at all (plus got to leave work early hehe). The entire family got together for the weekend too. It’s been a long time - like 12 years maybe? - since all of us have been together like this. Kind of crazy but it gets harder as everyone gets older & is living in different states (Cali, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, me in Ohio). Anyways, it was definitely nice to see everyone! The memorial service was on Saturday morning, & it was really nice too. Then we all went to an early dinner at Kirby’s Grill that day - it was delicious! Hehe it’s funny we went during happy hour, & now all the grandkids are 21+. Of course we had to make a trip to Pronto Pups! Downtown GH is so small that everything is pretty much walking distance. We all hung out at Grandma’s house a lot too, as usual. It was a short trip for me but amazing! It was nice seeing my parentals, sisters & nieces too. Now that I’ve made the trip by myself once, I definitely should go back some time! & according to Grandma, I should bring my cute boyfriend next time hahaha. 

It’s officially summer break for school. It’s amazing not having homework/studying to do after work now. & to have free weekends! Hehe. It’s also nice, for a change, to get to watch the NBA playoffs without worrying about school or missing games because of school. Realized it’s my last “real” summer for sure this time around, even though I only get 1 month off. & during that 1 month I’ve booked my flight home! So my friends - hope you’re around the bay at the end of July or early August :)

Last week concluded my last rotation with patient interaction. Crazy to think about! & the last 2 days were spent being a “floater” - helping whatever dietitian needed help. I won’t be doing nutrition assessments until staff relief (where we basically get to work as a full dietitian), which isn’t until July. Soooo I’ll definitely be a little rusty by then haha. 

I’ve started my last rotation this week - food service! Started & ending this internship with food service. Woot. There’s a group of 3 of us again & we have lots of fun events planned! From food demos, to special events in cares tower, to making pancakes & fried eggs at 6:30 am twice a week (ok - idk if this is really going to be fun hah). I’m also trying to finish up assignments from the Clinical Management rotation. There’s a ridiculous amount of work that’s impossible to finish within the 1 week of the rotation. Luckily I was paired with another intern for this rotation because we’re able to split the work. But still… I was in this rotation 3 weeks ago & I’m still not done. Gahh.

I am sad though because our neighbors are moving at the end of the month!! Ahhh don’t know what we’re gonna do without them 2 floors down. Definitely got super used to the convenience of having my bf so close to me… haha. But I’m glad they’re getting out of this old building!

My next post will sum up my trip to Michigan :)

How I feel to be done for the semester! Now 12 weeks left of the internship & 1 more semester of grad school. Crazy! But these next few months will definitely be a nice break from school =]
